Founder & Teacher, Lumina Learning
Lumina Learning is a practice, not a platform. Every session is taught personally, which means the number of students is intentionally small and every family knows exactly who is teaching their child.
I started Lumina because of a pattern I kept seeing: capable, curious children moving efficiently through school without ever being asked to think hard in front of another person. They could produce the answer. They had rarely been invited to defend it, question it, or write something that mattered to them.
My work sits where literature, rhetoric, and attention meet. I care about texts that reward a second reading, about writing that argues something real, and about helping students notice their own minds at work — including how they use the new tools now within arm’s reach.
Lumina serves families of many backgrounds, with early roots in the Indian diaspora community in Austin — families who tend to hold both high expectations and a genuine love of ideas. That combination is exactly the soil this work grows in.
Why the lotus
A lotus opens slowly, in its own time, toward the light it is given. That is a fair description of a child’s mind, and of the kind of teaching it deserves.
I'd be glad to hear about your child.
Write to me directly and tell me who they are. If Lumina is a fit, we'll build something around them.
